M04. Introducing temporary pedestrian areas

The Plan initially proposed trial weekend or peak-period traffic closures on streets in central Sóller. Temporary pedestrian areas would show how these changes affect travel, local shops and community life, informing possible permanent measures. In practice, the Town Council had already been working on permanent areas that give priority to pedestrians and on civic routes. Low-emission zones have also been created where only Sóller residents’ vehicles and zero-emission certified vehicles may circulate, with the aim of giving streets back to residents.
